July 27, 2015. Door County, WI.
July 27, 2015. Door County, WI. We snapped a picture of Grace and Brown Dog, creatures belonging to the Thurmond children at Jellystone before departing for Peninsula State Park. Look closely or you will miss them. We don't have Cobb or Tourtillott animals for this trip. We didn't think to ask for them until it was too late.
We are in one of our favorite places, Peninsula State Park. But, we have resolved to avoid Door County in July. The place is extremely crowded and the choice of campsites is limited. The temperature was in the high 80s yesterday and 90 is predicted for today. The peninsula is far more appealing in the early spring or early fall.
The blog will be sporadic this week. I don't have a satellite signal at the campsite. I am typing this entry from a school parking lot atop one of the local hills. I may not have that opportunity every day; we are so busy, you know.
We have been to the bike shop - two new tires - and we will have to return tomorrow for another the shop didn't have in stock. We biked last night, but Annie was uncomfortable riding on tires that were cracked and weather worn. After tomorrow, both bikes will have new shoes.
We also made a return to the Door County Bakery this morning. We discovered that Mondays are their discount days. The baker gets the day off and they sell bakery goods left over from the weekend. So, ever the frugal shopper, I bought $20 worth of stale goodies. Most were okay, except the Corsica bread. It is an Italian loaf with olive oil baked into it. It was still tasty, but awfully chewy. Maybe next time, I will take a pass on it.
I don't know when I will get back to you. I will when I can. See you then.
