May 15, 2017. Colorful Door County.
May 15, 2017. Colorful Door County. The first four pictures tell a story. We made it to the White Gull Inn this morning for the famous Door County Cherry Stuffed French Toast. As you can see, the portions are generous. Generous doesn't describe it accurately. The portions are enormous. Annie Farkley gave up after eating half and requested a box. Malachi, there's no quit in that guy, did not stop until the plate was covered only with syruppy crumbs. However, he didn't eat again for the next ten hours. That's how Annie stays fit and trim. And, that's why Malachi looks like a giant teardrop.
The Inn has a front yard filled with beautiful and colorful flowers. In another month, all of Fish Creek will look like that. The pictures above are less than half of those I took. Color abounded everywhere I looked. Added to that color were the warblers flitting about our campsite this afternoon. Warblers are small birds, about the size of a finch. I am not experienced at identifying warblers. However, I did go on the Internet to find birds which looked like those I photographed. Because warblers are so quick, it is hard to get a good picture of one. After comparing the birds shown above to those I found on the Internet, I will call the first bird an American Redstart. The second could be one of several, but I like the name, Yellow-rumped Warbler. So that's what I'm going to call it.
We had a chipmunk visit us, too. He was a curious little guy. He stayed on the tree stump, staring at us for several minutes. I looked up to watch another warbler and when I looked back, chippy was gone. The final picture shows the lighthouse at Eagle's Bluff. The light house was at the end of our bike ride before picking up for the night.
Rain was predicted for this evening. Moreover, rain is predicted for the next several days. I brought in the puffy chairs and covered the bikes. If the weatherman is correct, we may be Harvey-bound until later in the week. But, that's okay. We have reading materials. As I type this, raindrops are falling gently on the roof. It is very relaxing. So relaxing is it that we're going to bed early.
Goodnight.

That French toast makes my mouth water! I'd be able to finish the plate.
Maybe it was that French toast that broke your chairs!
Adorable chipmunk or "chippy" (as Levi would say) picture! I love reading the blog and seeing these great photos! Keep it up!!!
Love you!!
