June 1, 2013. The Bakery, New Growth and the Green Bay.
June 1, 2013. The Bakery, New Growth and the Green Bay. We discovered the Door County Bakery near Ephraim, WI, today. It is less than ten miles from the State Park. We bought a pound of their regionally famous Corsica bread. It has several types of olive oil cooked into the loaf - pretty tasty. We ate lunch there before hurrying home to listen to the rain fall on Harvey. Rain listening is best accomplished in a prone position. One's ears are much more sensitive while one's body is supine. It is a law of nature.
After the rain stopped, we went outside to watch the pines and dogwoods grow. The tender new pine cones and dogwood blossoms made good subjects for my camera. Later, we walked to the pier near the campground and watched fishermen and fisherwomen fish. Another storm rolled in as I photographed a sailboat rushing to the harbor at Fish Creek in a vain effort to outrace the storm. We were readying to leave when a nearby lightening strike was followed by a near-instant clap of thunder. Storm-brittle Annie took me by the arm and fairly drug me back to the campground and the safety of Harvey. "Move your feet, Tubby! Your slothfulness is going to get us killed." She'll deny saying that, but you know my reputation for honesty and veracity. Who are you going to believe?
I heard that.
