June 10, 2013. Brimley State Park. This entry into the blog has been a struggle. Here on the shore of Lake Superior, the Internet signal is so weak that it has taken hours just to to upload six pictures. But, I was determined and, even though I am late, I am getting it done. The first picture is Malachi grilling steaks for Annie's birthday and anniversary. The remaining pictures were taken at Brimley State Park, about 10 miles southwest of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
We are back on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and should remain here most of the week. The shore line here at Brimley is sand. Much of the Lake Superior coast is rocky. Here, children dig in the sand much as they would on either the Atlantic or Pacific coasts.
As we walked the beach last night, we met a couple from Wisconsin. They have traveled in RVs for years. I'd judge they were in their early seventies. The man said their two children worried about them while traveling. They had an accident several years back which totaled their rig, but they escaped serious injury. Now, their children want them to phone in daily to report on their location and health.
"That is an interesting twist," I noted. "When they are young, we worry and fret over them. Now, the roles are reversed. They worry and fret over us. God has a way of balancing things, doesn't He?" I think He does. It should be the goal of every parent to live long enough to become a burden to his children.
