January 6, 2017. Gosh, It's Cold. The first thing you will notice is that I don't have many pictures for you today. The reason; it was too cold to spend much time outside. The wind chill here was 24 today. Now, that's not terribly cold by midwest standards. But, it feels really cold on the Gulf Coast of Texas.
The first picture was taken before we set off for our walk. We were at least as cold as we looked. The third picture shows the campground. There aren't many people here today. Anyone with a brain would be home, nestled next to the fireplace. Evidently, there are more people with brains than without. We live in the latter category.
The wind is brutal today. It is a constant 25 miles per hour with gusts well in excess of that. We found a route that would take us between sand dunes with the idea that the dunes might shield us somewhat from the wind. It helped, but it was just too cold to stay out long.
Tonight we are huddled inside listening to the wind howl outside. We will have two more days of this before warm weather returns. The temperatures should be back in the 70s next week. We'll still be here, unless we grow a brain between then and now.

At least you have that can of tobacco in your pocket providing extra insulation.....
At least it is not as cold as is was that day skiing at Winter Park. You didn't let us complain.
