January 7, 2017. Still Cold but Better, or 60 Minutes on the Beach.

What do you see in this picture?

January 7, 2017.  Still Cold but Better, or 60 Minutes on the Beach.  Today was tolerable so we sauntered along the beach.  The traffic was light and the tide was out.  We saw many more shells than our previous walks on the beach.  Annie was like a wide-eyed little girl; "Hey, hey, look at this!"  "Have you ever seen so many starfish?"  "Isn't this neat?  Look at all the colors."  "Hey, tubby, wait  up, you're missing all the shells."  And, so on.  Her wit can be rather cutting at times, don't you think?

Annie was so proud of her shells that she asked me to take pictures of each one.  Then, she insisted that I include pictures of them in the blog.  Since she has editorial control over the blog, I complied.  See how smart I am.  You don't stay with the same woman for more than 50 years by failing to pick your battles.

We happened upon a photographer with a heavy-duty camera and lens.  I thought about engaging him and asking about the camera.  However, I was sporting a pocket Nikon so I was intimidated by his lens size.  Besides, he was walking fast, a universal sign that someone doesn't want to be engaged.  I let the opportunity pass.  I regret that.  Few things are as satisfying as successfully engaging someone who doesn't want to be engaged.

Tomorrow we move.  We will relocate to Pioneer RV Park in Port Aransas.  It is the largest commercial park in Port Aransas.  It is more expensive, but offers better biking routes and other amenities.  We are reserved there for the next week.  Another advantage for you is that it offers a change of scenery and a wider range of photo opportunities.  I expect to exhaust them all over the next seven days.  It is also on the beach, so there will be more birds, shells, Gulf waters, fishermen, fisherwomen, dunes, sea grass, and beachcombers.  Try to contain your excitement.

Oh, the picture above asking what you see; it is a piece of driftwood.  Annie thought it looked like two seals snuggling.  Do you see it?  I didn't at first, but the longer I looked at it I had to agree with her.  Well, I had to agree with her whether I saw the two seals or not.  It's that pick-your-battles thing, again.

Goodnight.

1) When did Annie get so tall?
2) I saw the driftwood. But if I squint till my eyes get blurry, I can see the seals.
3) Look at all those cool shells!! And the cute little hand that holds them!
