October 14, 2015. A Tour de Colour.

October 14, 2015. A Tour de Colour.  Yesterday, we toured the countryside near Manchester, VT.  The drive was about 100 miles or less and it took us back through Weston, VT, home of Vermont Country Store.  We stopped in the store again because when we were there Sunday, it was madness.  I overheard one of the clerks say yesterday that they set a new sales record on Saturday.  He went on to say that sales on Sunday, the day we were there, shattered the record set the day before.  All I know is that parking was terrible and it was almost impossible to get around inside the store due to the press of people.

We went in search of nothing, really.  We wanted to see the leaves and Weston just happened to be on the loop we chose.  What we are now seeing is definitely the "peak" of color for this area.  The peak-ed-ness of color has been confirmed by the owner of the RV park, a sales clerk in town and the Channel 5 weatherman.  I am not sure which authority is more credible, but the unanimous opinions leaves little room for doubt.

It has taken at least five years for us to hit the peak perfectly.  Oh, we've seen lots of color on previous trips, but we've never seen the explosion of brilliance we see now.  This may be our last trip here for a while.  Any subsequent trip would likely be disappointing.  Do you have any ideas for a different fall destination?  Maybe we will stay in the Midwest for a while.  After all, it was there that I developed my love of autumn.

Reminder, tomorrow evening is the deadline for the quiz entries.  We have one entry already and it confirms my belief that this may be the hardest quiz to date.  It promises to be hotly contested.

"The peak-ed-ness of color has been confirmed by the owner of the RV park, a sales clerk in town and the Channel 5 weatherman." It took me a few reads to understand that you were not talking about one person who held three jobs. I used my contextual clues (i.e., the next sentence) to figure it out.

Oh, and the colors are beautiful!
