October 4, 2015. Bay City State Recreation Area.

October 4, 2015.  Bay City State Recreation Area.  If you scroll back to October 9, 2012, you will find several pictures of the same scenes you see on this page.  That was our first stop here.  The scary trees are still here as are the funny ones.  Some of the Halloween decorations are the same and some of the same guests are here.  We like this park.

I missed writing for you yesterday because we had no Internet signal.  We stayed at Port Crescent State Park last night.  That park is pretty isolated on the coast of Lake Huron.  Not only was there no Internet service, there was no television signal.  I brought no books on this trip, so with no Internet and no television we went to bed early.

As we left the KOA Campground in Port Huron, the left stabilizer failed to retract.  The stabilizers are designed to, what else, stabilize the RV while parked.  They don't level the RV, they just keep it from rocking as we move around in it.

With the stabilizer on the ground, we were unable to move the motor home.  I crawled underneath and saw that the motor which turns the drive for the stabilizer was frozen.  Bo, our next door neighbor, sauntered over to offer his assistance.  Bo theorized that the weight on the drive shaft was interfering with its operation.  He suggested that a ratchet and 5/8-inch deep socket would release the pressure, and he just happened to have one.  So, back under Harvey I went with the tool.  I twisted until Bo told me to stop.  He told Annie to try the retraction button again.  When she did, the stabilizer retracted.  Bo is my new hero.

On our drive here today, we stopped by Walmart where I bought a ratchet and 5/8-inch  deep socket.  Maybe one of these days I will be someone else's Bo.

I've never needed you to retract any stabilizer, but you have always been my hero!
