October 6, 2015. A Walk Around the Park. After six days of driving, we have settled into Four Mile Creek State Park. We did not leave the campground today. We did walk around the campground. The trees are in the very early stages of changing colors. There are no barns here, but there are lots of trees. There are towering weeping willows and sugar maples. There are mostly live trees, but at least one dead one. There are flowers, wild flowers of many colors. There is the lake shore and a freighter making its way to Toronto. There is one tree with four forks, near the ground. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but it makes an interesting picture.
The two camping spots to our right are occupied by two brothers from Kentucky. They each have a Ford truck with fifth-wheels. This week is "fall break" in the school system there. They brought a daughter and son to see Niagara Falls. They seem to be having a good time. There is music, slightly too loud music, coming from the fifth-wheels and they gather around the campfire beginning at 5:00 PM. It is now 10:00 they are still there. And, the music is slightly too loud. That's okay. I can sleep through a rock concert.
We will be here until Friday when we will move into Vermont. We will return to Manchester Center and visit several country stores, especially the Mach Country Store in Pawlet, VT. That is the first country store we found when we came here the first time. It had fallen upon hard times last year. We hope to find it in fine fiddle. It is the only store in the small community and it is one of the few gathering spots there.
More about the store later. For now, prayers for Buster, BJ's little buddy who is very ill. Good night.
