January 14, 2016. A Windy Day On The Beach. Our quiet time was interrupted this morning by the sound of a lawn mower . . . in January. The only machine noise we hear in January back home is a snow blower. I asked the operator if he always mows the grass in January. He said, usually, no. However the fall was warm and wet, so he was just leveling the grass.
After lunch we biked to the beach. The clouds foreshadowed the rain which is falling as I type this. There was also a steady wind blowing in off the Gulf. As usual, the wind made the 60 degree temperature seem colder. The pier shown above is the same pier we walked on Monday.
Fishermen were undeterred by the weather. We saw several, one of whom was using three lines at once. We saw no one actually catch fish. That's too bad. I was hoping to see that. I wonder what they catch in the Gulf.
After a brief walk, we biked until late afternoon. No, we didn't go to the marsh where the gator is reported to hang out. By then, the bikes were tired so we returned to T-Harvey.
I suggested to Annie that we take time tonight to create a schedule. Each night, one of us will ask the other what he/she wants to do tomorrow. The following morning we ask what we're going to do today. Thus far, each day has been spontaneous. But, the more I think about it, one of the reasons we are here is to get away from schedules and deadlines. And, I think that maybe the scheduling idea isn't such a good idea.
There will be time enough for schedules and deadlines in February. And, in case you are wondering, today is National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day. I haven't seen any of those either.
