January 16, 2016. The Revenant. I don't have much to tell you today. Annie and I spent a long two and one-half hours at the movies watching the film,The Revenant. The movie has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards.
The plot is simple, yet still amazing. Hugh Glass was a mountain man who joined the Ashley Fur Company in 1823. He was one of a hundred selected to go west to trap beaver which would be manufactured into top hats. Another of the 100 trappers was William Sublette, who shares a common gene pool with Annie.
Glass was mauled by a grizzly bear. He was so near death that the company moved on to escape hostile Indians and Glass was left with two volunteers who were to stay with him until he died, then bury him. The volunteers grew fearful for their own lives as Glass refused to die. For five days they stayed with him, then they just left him.
Glass continued to refuse to die. He crawled and stumbled 200 miles to Fort Kiowa in South Dakota. He was without a weapon or provisions. It was an amazing feat of human endurance. He was driven by his thirst for revenge. The movie takes some artistic license with history at the end. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll stop there.
The scenery was beautiful. The movie was filmed near Calgary, Alberta. The movie was gory, but if seeing a lot of blood doesn't deter you, it is worth seeing, if for no other reason, because it is largely an accurate telling of a remarkable story.
There is your movie review for this trip.

I loved the movie. So beautiful. The directors set up some shots that were super. I loved the breathing on the camera lens. Cheers to Leo for doing all that action
