January 19, 2016. Repair and Frustration. Faithful readers will recall that we spent the better part of three days at an RV repair shop here last winter. Evidently, we are slow learners. We have now spent eight more hours in the waiting area of the same repair shop and we are worse off than we were when we arrived. While we waited, Annie knitted. By the end of the day, she had knitted a scarf, six feet long.
We made an appointment for 8:00 this morning more than a week ago. I had a punch-list of four items when I made the appointment. Before noon, it became apparent they could not fix three of the four items. The fourth item was a simple replacement of the gray tank sensor. I even brought the sensor with me so all they had to do was install it. They tried. After five hours, I was told that not only did the gray tank gauge not work, the fresh water gauge no longer worked, too. I taciturnly told the service advisor, "We're losing ground here."
After seven and one-half hours, I bypassed the service advisor and asked for the service manager. In a quiet voice, which ought to have frightened anyone, peering over the top of my glasses Judge Judy style, I said, "I am becoming increasingly unhappy." It worked. Thirty minutes later, he returned and announced pridefully, "It is all fixed. We'll have it around front in a few minutes." He then discounted the installation bill by 25%. I should have gone all Judge Judy on him five hours earlier.
So, we rewarded ourselves (for being forgetful and returning to the same shop as last year) at the Fish River Grill where they have velvet pictures of Elvis hanging on the wall behind their Mardi Gras Tree. The food was good and, after wasting another day at the repair shop, we felt as though we deserved it. Of course, that overlooks the fact that we should have learned our lesson last year.
Well, live and learn . . . and sometimes re-learn.

Bummer!
Spending time in the repair shop is no fun! I remember a time a few years ago when we had to spend two days of our vacation in the repair shop. It was a real bummer to miss out on a few days of fun, but the repairs had to be made. At least you got a good dinner and I bet next time you will remember!
That's an encouraging thought. Thanks for the comment.
