May 15, 2016. A Quiet Day in Door County.

May 15, 2016.  A Quiet Day in Door County.  For some odd reason, our fresh water gauge read "0" this morning.  It may be that the gauge is misbehaving.  Or, it may have to do with the fact that Annie took a shower in Harvey yesterday.  Yes, there are showers here at the campground.  However, Annie doesn't want to disrobe in a public facility.  She is also concerned about cleanliness.  I have no such concerns.

In any event, being out of water required us to pack up and disconnect.  While at the fresh water fill, I figured I might as well dump the two holding tanks.  I offered to let Annie handle the dumping part.  I suggested that she might need to know how to do that sometime.  She demurred, saying that she could learn all she needed to know from watching me.  Cleaver girl, that Annie.

It was cold today, the temperature not climbing out of the 40s.  We flipped through the TV channels and found the 1939 Frank Capra movie, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."  James Stewart played the lead role.  Like many Capra movies ("It's a Wonderful Life", for example, also staring James Stewart) this one concluded with good triumphing over evil.

Declining to remain cloistered inside all day, we bundled up and took a walk in the park.  We were driven off the trail through the woods by mosquitoes and moved to the road.  We happened across a couple of bikers who had paused their exercise long enough to picnic in the park.  They must have stored body heat during their biking.  It was definitely not picnicking weather.

So, we have finished our first week on the road.  The roads look much the same as they did previously.  Mackinac Island and Peninsula State Park look the same.  The only thing different has been the weather.  The weather dude on one of the Green Bay channels said that local temperatures are running 20-25 degrees below average for this time.  That will change.  By mid-week, it will be in the mid to upper 60s.  The long range forecast calls for warmer weather the rest of the month.

Tomorrow is the beginning of a new week and new adventures.  I hope your week is filled with adventure, too.

Goodnight.
