May 20, 2016. Final Day in PSP. We leave in the morning for Marquette, MI. Today was our last day in Door County. It was pretty much like the previous eight days. We had lunch at Wilson's Restaurant and Ice Cream shop in Ephraim, about four miles down the road. En route to Ephraim, we crossed the peninsula on Skyline Road which provides an overlook of the Green Bay. That accounts for the pictures from on high.
This afternoon we sat in the sun and enjoyed our first day of 70 degrees. One of us may have even dozed off briefly. We then took a walk through the woods. I have been trying all week to capture the blue color of the small pansy-like wildflowers which volunteer along the trail. No matter what the light conditions were, the photos always looked lighter, nearly white, than the flowers appear in nature. Today, I think I got close to their natural color.
I also found a couple of designs which were interesting. One looked like a huge, thick spider's web. However, as I got closer, it appeared to be some type of cocoon. If you look closely, you'll see small worms crawling on it. In fact, the worms sorta form the eyes of a face.
I also found a stump with mouse ears on it. I thought maybe the grandkids would appreciate that. Perhaps it was meant as a foreshadowing of the family trip to Disney World this fall.
Finally, there is a forked tree along the road near our campground. Annie took a picture of me sitting on the fork earlier this week. I thought I would return the favor today as we neared the campsite. I like the picture. However, I can't help but notice that she doesn't fill up nearly as much of the fork as I did.
Tomorrow night, we will be in Marquette.
Goodnight.
